Protein?!

Hey blog,

So this is me, several weeks into this with four months remaining left to lose about... 55 pounds. Well, at least... something like that. Although I do anticipate that I'll probably not reach One-Sixty... simply because I've got quite a bit of muscle mass going on. But, I'm making quite a bit of progress so far.

Recently, I found out I'm probably not getting enough protein in my diet, so with some instruction from my older sister I managed to pick up a package of whey protein. It's surprisingly good stuff, and I think it'll help a lot with my muscles constantly being pushed everyday. I think protein was a definite problem, as I've been doing a lot of jogging, bicycle riding, and core work and not getting enough protein to help rebuild after every hard day of work out.

I think this will help me get over a bit of a hump right now. I'm doing a lot of Cardio, and I noticed today my calves have shrunk an incredible amount, it's kind of insane! My legs are also toning out a bit, and I'm losing fat and it's replacing with muscle tone. It's really cool to be able to see an improvement everyday which is giving me a lot of confidence that I can truly do this by the end of the four months. Lets hope I can keep it up.

I've also managed to bicycle ride about 20.2 miles the other day. This is boding well, as I'm working myself to be able to bicycle ride to a beach near my house... by near... I mean 44 miles round trip. I'm honestly stoked about it, and I think I can pull it off. The scary thing about this trip is that there are these HUGE hills going out there, and one I know if is even hard to get up in a car. But... I think I can handle it.

Well, lets see how things go. I'll update in a little bit Blog 2!

  1. Beans, lentils, nuts, whole grains, seeds and tofu are also a good place to get protein! Sometimes your body likes to get nutrients directly from food as opposed to supplements/pills, but I think doing both would be good for you :)

  2. Hey Kelly!

I do get protein from my food too, I was thinking I wanted to increase the different types of proteins I get from my food though. I've mostly been relying on lean white meats, whole grains, and nuts. I'm trying to avoid Red Meats, so that my body focuses on using my own fats to burn instead of those from the food I eat.

The reason I decided to go with supplements, was simply to balance out my diet. The supplement I have also offers some other vitamins and minerals to help with digestion and helps my muscles rebuild faster with the added stuffs.

Thanks for the suggestions though. =D I think you should give me some vegan recipes so I can try them out. I'm interested.
